Recently, Girl With Balloon was voted the nations favourite piece of art. His works continue to astound collectors, critics and the general public. As well as being striking works of art with strong social messages, Banksy represents a fantastic potential investment.

Given the nature of his most famous works- sprayed on public walls around the globe- owning one is likely out of reach, short of buying the building- and the artist regularly directly calls out those who claim ownership of his public works.

Luckily, there are prints, released to the market through his own agency Pest Control.

These come onto the market relatively rarely- previous editions were available through Pictures On Walls, though this ended in 2017. There are a large number of works claiming to be by Banksy out there which are in fact not. Thankfully, Pest Control offer a service they call Keeping It Real which allows for easy identification of a genuine print. They issue a certificate of authenticity, checked against their database.

If the work can not be verified, stay clear unless you really love it.

When a reputable dealer offers you a work by an artist, the authenticity should be guaranteed. If someone is unwilling to have a print verified, that should set off alarm bells.

When a work is unsigned however, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Genuine unsigned Banksys have accumulated value faster than their signed counterparts in recent years.

Prices over recent years have certainly made selling as attractive an option as buying. Going through a traditional auction house will set you back around 25% of the sale price. Dealing with a broker like us means you walk away with more.
